Thank you for your interest to help build Mustang Way, a trail connecting Manitou Springs High School to the Intemann Trail. Volunteers will take the trail from a flagged route along the hillside to a 3-foot wide trail that looks like it belongs on the landscape. Work involved includes using standard
trail-building hand tools (no power tools), lifting and carrying large rocks with a team, cutting branches, removing roots, and walking and working in areas with no trail and sometimes a steep cross slope. Not everyone will be involved in all the different tasks needed. Volunteers will be divided into crews of 5 to 7, with a trained crew leader to provide safety and work instructions. Crews will work on separate sections of the trail. The work is strenuous but rewarding. Participants will see a trail develop where no trail was before, all through their efforts.
