NHS Yearly Requirements

Admission by Application and Review by Faculty Council:

WHO:
sophomores and junior
3.7 GPA
Application detailing your Scholarship, Service, Leadership, and Character

WHAT/WHERE:
NHS is a national organization of exceptional high school students! We have a
chapter at MSHS that meets Mondays during lunch in Room 11.

WHEN:
All eligible (3.7 GPA, sophomore or junior) students will be sent the application via a
Canvas Course on October 1. Applications are due by October 31. Students will be
notified of acceptance during Advisory before Thanksgiving break.

WHY:
NHS looks excellent on college applications. NHS students are academic leaders
on campus and participate in serving and leading the district's schools. NHS
members can letter and wear white caps and gowns and gold honor cords at
graduation.

Once Accepted…
Yearly Dues: sophomores & juniors $20/ seniors $20 (extra for cords)

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain your GPA (3.7)
  • Continue to foster good character (cheating or formal disciplinary action could
    lead to your membership being revoked)
  • Continue service activities independently – Minimum of 25 hours independent service (focus on an area of passion and work toward service in that area). NEWLY INDUCTED MEMBERS may use service hours from summer before
    application.
  • Participate substantively in chapter activities, including Monday meetings and
    service projects.
